Description: There’s a long tradition in both folk and popular music of political songs and song parodies. This song is a little of both. It reflects a current political situation (as of 2/08) and if you listen carefully – and have more than a few years on you – you might recognize a melody somewhat akin to a tune popular in the early part of the 20th century called “Does Your Mother Know You’re Out, Cecelia?”
When I heard the political commentators talking about the Clinton campaign or DNC Chairman Howard Dean (yes, that Howard Dean, the one they still refer to as “Crazy Howie” in Iowa) asking Sen. Obama to drop his Presedential bid in return for the VP slot I thought, “Why wouldn’t Hillary Clinton just pick up the phone and make that offer herself?” If she did, I think the conversation might sound something like this.
