Description: A collaboration with Hendrik Steiner and Karl Anselm from Munich, Germany. I wrote the lyrics and sang them. Instrumental soundbed by Hendrik and Karl.
Leaving flesh gates the soul, like a bird that soars with grace, like a worm that leaves the hole, taken to an extraordinary place.
Give your all until the dawn. Take what little stuff you need. Smile until the shades are drawn, knowing well that you've planted the seed.
Gift of knowing, gift of feeling. Golden orb, precious sight. Life's abrasions the sun is healing for those who simply step out into the light.
What is money? What is power? Lust and vengeance, blood and bile? Selfless motives don't devour. Look for treasure in a neighbor's smile.

One of the best songs I have heard in a long time...
Kudos to you all.
Jack Folk Alley does such a great job of using the Internet to provide folk music everywhere, and to build a "virtual" folk community. But what you do carries the Internet to another level. i am amazed at how you interact and collaborate with like-minded musicians all over the globe, creating such beautiful pieces as this. This tune is terrific, one of the vey best tunes I've heard on FA.
I really don't understand the grading system here. This tune deserves such better ratings.
When I see rating here it makes me want to head for the hills,. Listeners get the lead out and give this guy a better score on this. He deserves it and terrific playing as well. In my opinion Richard DOES deserve better ratings - but we are unfortunately burdened with some folks who, for whatever reason, feel justified in hammering down ratings. I call this "Tune Envy".
Music is subjective as well, so everyone may just not share our opinion. We must be gracious to them, that they may eventually find enlightenment and mend the error of their ways. Wonderful voice, clever and profound lyrics, great instrumental, this is the highest class and yes it does merit higher ratings. Thanks for the kind words. There are so many richly deserving songs here at Folk Alley. I feel like a novice among masters. Your recently posted "In Your Dreams" sent me back to listen again to this wonderful collaboration with the same German musicians. Work like this shows the Internet can serve as unique communication tool. This is just a great song. Good choice, Richard. I'm glad you've left this one here. Very good message. Lovely tune and I like what's happening with your collaborative works. Richard, any string players in your circle of friends who could do the Live parts written for strings? An option I would love to hear - Live strings would just soar at the end here! The daughter of our liturgical music director at St. Matt's plays violin for us at high feasts. I have already asked her about doing live string passages for me on some of my songs. She nodded yes. And I fully agree that real strings do help to elevate a song to full glory. Thanks for suggesting it here, JoLynn. I have been getting this song ready for coffee house delivery. Now you got me thinking I need to bring more than just my borrowed 6-string (Mr. Charvel), my bass guy (Paul) and my keyboard guy (Jack).
