We always enjoy listening to your music. Thanks for the good tunes and sharing all your great stories. Look forward to hearing more from you! the "Kardell's" Great song Chad. Brings me back home -- a place I always like to visit -- in person or in song. Chad has a voice worth listening to. Bluebird Creek has an ease about it that makes you want to come right back to it....a melancholy cheerfulness. Nice song! The voice fits the song. This in my opinion is very important. Keep on doing it! Great lyrics, Chad. When I listen to Bluebird Creek, I can see the girl with the black hair and the boy that looks like you. It's nice to 'see' what I can already hear in your music. Very nice. Jim Zrodjewski and Marilyn Lohmann dig this song about where Blue Birds go when they need a haven! SUPERB! As is everything you write, sing and share with us.
A treasure, a gem you are!

It's been so great to listen to your music over the years and see how much you've matured and improved. You're an a great asset to our artistic community. Fantastic contest Chad - it was so close between 2 wonderful songs which both deserved to win. I was honoured to be in such talented company! Chad, let me just say that I was really pulling for you to win for Bluebird Creek. You are very talented and I know that you will find success. Keep up the awesome songwriting! Thank you all for your votes and your inspiring comments. It was quite the competition! :) I love Sam's song as well as the other competitors'... I'm grateful to be a part of such a great process! Thanks everyone! Chad, it a good thing there were no judges in this contest. Having to choose between you and Sam would have been impossible. It was nice to have been on the same "open mic" stage with you. Hope our paths cross one of these days.
dM As far as I'm concerned, there should have been three or four winners, not just one. The whole batch was great, and we should all go to Kent State!:) It was a great time Chad, what a close finish. Maybe we'll have a folk alley party someday, and we'll get to admire each others tunes in person. I look forward to hearing even more, and if you're touring in the DC area, let me know, I'd love to come see ya.
Take care. Couldn't agree more Sam, and how I'd love to meet you, Chad and all the other guys. Scotland to America is a long way but hey, who knows? I can't think of anything better than a Folk Alley party! Thank you Sam and Tom. I agree, a FolkAlley song sharing would be great! So much to learn from and appreciate with the talents on here! I'll be in touch if I'm in either of your neck of the woods...D.C. or Scotland! Same to you both, if your ever in Iowa... Very nice. Well worth all the hard work. Keep up the great work! hi Chad I hope you win and its a great song Hey....You are very talented and are awesome to listen to...if anyone isn't in a good mood at the end of bluebird creek then they should buy the cd and listen to the whole thing cause then they will be for sure! An honor to be on the same list, Chad! I definitely think we should do a Folk Alley party sometime. I need to get out to D.C. to visit some old friends, maybe we could put our heads together with Sam and work something out! Thanks Jim. Let's work out that meeting! You got it. I'm thinking early 2007, Feb-Mar. Sorry, but this song uses a line from Donovan's "Colours"... Paul...never heard the song...what line are you talking about? There's a similarity to Donovan's "Colours" in the first few notes of the guitar melody line but this is such a wonderful song and certainly distinctly different enough for this not to be an issue. Almost every "new" song has an alliegance to the past but it doesn't detract from its own original value. This is a great song, no question...it will be copied :-) The overall feeling and lyric content of this song really works for me, especially, the chorus. The arrangement is spare and that is just right for a song of this kind. Guess I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I like this song more each time I hear it. Thanks.
Laddie Ray Melvin Strong. Professional. Beautifully done. Thanks, Chad. You're very talented. nice. very nice. thank you. CONGRATULATIONS CHAD!! Have a great time at Kent, hope youo can make it out to DC and join us in March!!! Congratulations! Pleeeze come on out to DC in March. This is a very lovely song. Chad- I am continually amazed by the depth of your lyrics and the sheer poetry of them. Your talent goes far beyond lyrics and melody. You are truly an artist. A big congrats to you. You've earned it! Thank you for sharing your gifts with the rest of us.
Barb Congratulations Chad! Thank you for casting your "Bluebird Creek" through North Ontario. YAY Chad!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!! You are an amazing artist and songwriting! Congratulations from Linn Grove, Iowa. Was just checking out Folk Alley and noticed you won the Open Mic Competition. Way to Go! Have a Folkin' good time at Kent!!! And remember, you are the new ambassador for Folk Alley and Open Mic, so make us all proud. Godspeed Chad! Well done... The song just has a nice grass roots/Americana feel to it and your vocal fits it nicely as well... Kudo's and congrats on your recognition out there... Thank you to everyone! I've contacted many people in recognition, but thought I'd put a little message in the comments section to let you know my appreciation.
I'm very excited to go to Kent State Folk Festival! I appreciate all of your support and encouragement. Bluebird Creek is a special song to me. My son sometimes sits in the audience and he smiles real big and looks around the audience when I sing the line, "with a little boy standin' at her side and the little boy looks like me..."
I'm so glad it's this song that was picked and voted on.
Thanks again, I am honored! Sweet dreams flow through my mind after listening to this song... Home, an interesting concept... it really makes you think... Cold and lonely in Indiana I've listened to this song several times and I've yet to find the lone from the Donovan song Colours. Sorry, the above post should have read: line not lone from Donovan's song.... Movin' on up.... Great song.... Cold and lonely in Indiana keep taking your songs into the sky!...nice work Chad.
