Artist Biography:
A bit about Andrew........

Song writing has always been a part of me and no matter how convinced I am that the latest song is the last song in me there is always another and then another waiting patiently.
I moved to Northumberland in the mid-1970’s and was at once captivated by the countryside and the far horizons. It has become very much a part of my life through hill walking taking in its atmosphere and truly inspired scenery.
My first CD, ‘Bless by an Angel’ in 1999, really tidied up and put together thirty years of past song writing, closing the door on a chapter of my life. Once it was published I felt free to pursue my real inspirations within Northumberland, the beginnings of which are shown in Northumbria’s Pride (2000) and Walk With Me (2001). In particular Holy Island has been a special place for me and it is hard to express it in a song, but I always look forward to its peace and quiet. Other places that have inspired these albums are Hedgehope Hill, Alnmouth Friary, the Duddo Standing Stones and the Hills of Simonside. All integral parts within the heart of Northumbria. Streams of Life (2003) and Pools of Light (2004) compliment this series of CD’s.
Both ‘Northumbria’s Pride’ and ‘Walk With Me’ are moving towards the especial completeness within song writing that musicians look for. I am now more comfortable within my own guitar style and feel that my closeness to this land, its stones and heritage comes through.
In relation to Simonside and the Cheviots I am sure that there is much more to come both in tunes and lyrics especially since the turn of the Century. The latest CD In the Blood features songs and stories about Northumberland and is a departure into folklore.
I play at various festivals throughout the year and have had appearances on National and Local radio and television. I particularly enjoy my appearances at the Alnwick International Music Festival where so many diverse cultures and musical backgrounds come together.
My spare time is spent song writing and working for a living.
