| Artist Biography: |
Gabrielle Louise is an emerging artist noted for her poignant lyrics (a two-time John Lennon Songwriting Contest finalist, winner of the Jack Maher Songwriting Award) and astonishing vocals.
She has toured and recorded with a wide variety of configurations, but most recently she has put together a Denver based trio including Ryan Dricky on Fiddle and Vocal Harmonies, and Joe Skala on Bass Guitar.
Gabrielle Louise's songs are anchored in folk and roots, while her melody and delivery show strong pop sensibilities. Her sound has the earthy feel of early Joni Mitchell while also capturing the emotion and musical adventurism of fellow genre-hopping artist Martin Sexton. Gabrielle is at one moment folkie and ethereal, the next moment a smoky jazz chanteuse. She has 100% independently release two records, Journey (2006), and Around in Circles, the E.P. (2007.)
Gabrielle Louise is a performer, who like many other socially-conscious musicians, has made a commitment towards peace and the environment through music. Gabrielle has released a new single, "Save the Arkansas" that seeks to bring awareness to a dire environmental situation that is threatening the health and safety of the Arkansas River Watershed. She was also recently asked by the Willie Nelson Peace Institute to cover Nelson's "Peaceful Solution." Both songs are archived on her media player to your right.
Recently, Gabrielle is getting really involved in the world of alternative fueling. She has a vision to do all of her touring and traveling using biodiesel, while using her musical journey as a vehicle and resource of information for the public. She is currently creating the first Artist's Alternative Fuels Network, which will be located at www.musicooling.com, and will showcase the creative faces who are supporting alternative fueling. (Willie Nelson, Bonnie Rait, and Martin Sexton to name a few) The website will also be a resource of information for visitors on the basics and benefits of Biodiesel, in addition to having a public forum for discussion and songs/videos relevant to alternative fueling.
Originally from Colorado, Gabrielle has also made her home in Boston—where she studied at the Berklee College of Music. She currently divides her time between New York City and Denver, CO. Gabrielle Louise is now busy recording, while also touring from Boston to San Francisco, working on bringing her brand of "homegrown folk" to one new town at a time.
