Artist Biography:
The Birdhorse is the pseudonym used by North Carolina-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Toni Hartley. Hartley cut her teeth singing back-up for tUnE-yArDs, both on Nikki Nack and on their Red Hot Fela track, “Lady.” Energized by singing and healing from a broken heart, Hartley began churning out her own addictive and imaginative indie folk/pop tunes in 2012. In 2015, friend, producer, and engineer Bobby Funk helped bring to life The Birdhorse’s debut album, Treasure.

On March 30, 2018, The Birdhorse is releasing a decidedly assured effort with Fool’s Adventure, a sophomore album with nine tracks written, produced, and recorded by Hartley. Penned in the desert, under trees, next to rivers and oceans, and with a joy irrepressible, Fool’s Adventure traverses themes of love, bisexual identity, feminism and environmentalism and draws heavily on Hartley’s early pop, folk, and country idols while maintaining a style all hers. Mixed by legend, Karen Kane, and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Emily Lazar from NYC’s The Lodge, this is a album made by women.
