Artist Biography:
What do a bunch of beach boys (and gal) know about hillbilly music? Brackish Water Jamboree named their roots-music free-for-all after the swampy confluence from which they hail: Tidewater, Virginia. But in just over 3 years since their formation, they've experienced some success extending beyond their hometown:

• They've performed with roots greats including Grammy award-winning Dom Flemons (founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops), Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band, The Steel Wheels, Hackensaw Boys, and more
• Their self-produced, original debut album reached iTunes' top 40 "New Country Releases" chart for three weeks the month of its release (February 2016)
• They received the 2017 VEER music award for "Best Americana Band"
• They have been invited to headline 2017 NPR member-station WHRV's "Out of the Box" up-and-coming artists concert series, Knoxville's WDVX Blue Plate Special, the iconic Floyd Country Store and more

Brackish Water Jamboree is so passionate about sharing this style of music that they founded and organized the on-going NorFOLK Festival (in Norfolk, VA) that had over 2,000 attendees in its inaugural year, boasting performances from Dom Flemons, Hackensaw Boys, Bob Zentz and more.

Testimonials
• “[O]ne of the most entertaining bands around!” -Peter Pittman, Owner of Iconic VA Roots Venue: The Hampton Taphouse
• “Brackish Water Jamboree is an eclectic mix of foot-stomping bluegrass, old-time folk and classic Americana pulled together with a high-energy performance and one extraordinary stage presence. Brackish Water Jamboree is a band that will bring down the house and bring the audience to their feet time and time again.” -Brenda Barkley, Talent Buyer, Tidewater Friends of Acoustic Music
• “[T]hese fellas know how to entertain a crowd!” -Charlie Grant, Executive Director, Hops in the Park

The band's roots music philosophy:

"We believe that roots music should sound familiar while remaining reverent to its past, but it should ultimately be served in a modern, yet humble way. This doesn't necessarily mean synthesizers or electric instruments - rather a performance energy and sincerity that meets audiences in the present. American roots genres are dynamic; they're are a confluence of musical lineages that evolve and deposit fossils of musical snapshots along the way. We aim to preserve and advance these American roots lineages we've come into, by applying a modern-day musical veneer - just like the '52 Chevy pickup Grandpa finally rolled out of the driveway that still turned heads a 2002 Walmart parking lot."
