Artist Biography:
Inyo is a solo acoustic instrumental guitarist from the United States. His name was inspired by Inyo County, California--which contains the highest point in the contiguous United States (Mount Whitney, at 14,505 feet; 4,421 m) and the lowest spot in the North America (Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, at 282 feet below sea level; 86 m). At about 10 years of age, he began playing the guitar as accompaniment to his parents during impromptu musical sessions on camping trips to the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin of Nevada, and the Sierra Nevada. Although his primary instrument is currently a 1976 Martin D-35, Inyo has in the past played with regularity a 1952 Martin 0-18, a 1998 Sigma DM-1STCE, a pre-1975 Orlando nylon-string guitar, and a circa 1968 Stella 12-string. Inyo also plays banjo and ukulele. His musical interests include Folk, roots music, Americana, Blues, Tin Pan Alley-era compositions, 1920s and '30s Jazz, Big Band Era tunes, 1920s through 1980s Country, folk rock, mid 1960s to mid 1970s Classic Rock, and 1950s to 1970s Pop Rock. In addition to musical pursuits, Inyo also maintains an active interest in all matters paleontological and geological, and has created several web sites dedicated to fossil occurrences in California, Nevada, and Utah.
