| Artist Biography: |
Tall County is a Brooklyn-based trio writing and playing stripped-down songs on strung-up instruments that don’t require electricity to be heard. They recorded their debut EP, Shine, singing and picking around a couple mics in a souped-up family barn in the Hudson Valley. A wood-burning stove helped with the heat.
Bassist Colin DeHond and guitarist/banjoist Ned P. Rauch met in the Adirondacks more than a decade ago and have been playing together in bands ever since. Fiddler/uker Liz Bisbee Rauch and Ned met in Brooklyn when they joined Frankenpine, a string band that, once Colin was added to the lineup, recorded a pair of albums.
Liz and Ned got hitched. Colin didn’t, but that’s cool. The three of them share a fondness for Townes Van Zandt; old songs from forgotten corners of the country; sparse arrangements and speedy fiddle and guitar licks.
