Starbucks Launches Record Label - Decries Automatic Espresso Machines
March 13, 2007
Mega java retailer Starbucks is joining with Concord Music Group to launch Hear Music. The new label will produce CDs for sale at Starbucks cafes, as well as other music sellers. Starbucks and Concord have teamed up previously on a series of well-received projects. The label will call LA home. Other labels in Concord's stable include Concord Records, Concord Jazz, Telarc, Prestige and eight more.
In a related story, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is worried that the company is losing touch with its handcrafted roots even as the familiar green logo is becoming ubiquitous in China.
