Dave Siglin Retires from Ark

March 21, 2008

On March 9, Dave Siglin retired after running Ann Arbor's beloved folk music venue, The Ark, after 40 years at the helm. The Ark held four concerts as a farewell to Siglin, culminating with a singer/songwriter song circle including, among others, Arlo Guthrie and David Bromberg.

We played at the Ark twice and Dave was always supportive of what we did.

I'm not sure how you replace a Dave Siglin. It's hard to imagine The Ark without him and his remarkable stewardship. He not only made The Ark a great Michigan venue but arguably on par with any in the country. His support for not only national artists but emerging Michigan talent is legendary. I've only been going to the Ark for about twenty of the forty years that Dave was at the helm, but the talent and creativity I've experienced on those stages has had a profound impact on my life.
