ADDINGYuck How many different notes does the melody of this song have? Four? Five? It's not only a lousy song; it's not even folk music. It's trashy rock.
I was thinking of becoming a member of Folk Alley, but now I'm not so sure. Donna the Buffalo came on the heels of a miserable set of music that included the insulting "Remember Song" by Chuck Pyle (not funny if you have anyone in your family with Alzheimer's disease), a truly awful rock number by "Batdorf and Rodney" (whoever they are), a country/rock number by Darrell Scott, and another weak humor song by Livingston Taylor. posted byMark Knapp on January 16, 2007, 02:52:41 am | Donna the Buffalo Gosh, sorry you didn't like the song....I found it refreshing and interesting- loved the harmonies and complexities.
And if you take everything personally- you'll never find anything amusing. Humor is bound to step on someone's feelings somewhere- if it didn't it would be bland and boring.
Perhaps FolkAlley ain't for you- you might try a Clear Channel station, they might play music better suited to your taste.

I like the innocences and vulnerability in her voice.
Sounds like something I might hear some evening from
a country neighbor's front porch while out taking in the
evening air. posted by JoLynn Braswell on January 24, 2007, 12:36:16 pm | spelling boo-boo - an "s"..oops! posted by JoLynn Braswell on January 24, 2007, 12:39:21 pm | re: Yuck Mark,
I am guessing that this station may not be right for you as previously suggested. I listen to this staion every day at work, and maybe I hear one song or so, per day, that is not for me, but I would not make a truely negative coment about it. For you to hear a set of 4 or 5 songs in a row that did not meet your standards would suggest that you might be listening to the wrong station.
I actually did like the song very much, and I see the rating is very good too, so others aparently share this view. Please play more of it. posted by David Zimmerman on February 02, 2007, 10:37:53 am | More rock than folk This is definitely more rock than folk. Sure, it's kind of nice... if you like rock music. But it is not a folk tune, not even a folk-rock in the vein of Springsteen.
There are a lot of folk groups and even more rock groups. You can not cover everyone. So a little focus allows for more depth.
Let's focus on folk! posted by CH F on June 22, 2007, 09:39:48 pm |
