ADDINGOn "Scotch 'n Soda" It's about time the Kingston Trio showed up. I haven't noticed them on Folk Alley since I started listening. No, there instrumental work isn't great, they don't have originals until John Stewart shows up and they borrow from great but not as successful artists. But, where I grew up there was almost no other folk music to be heard on the radio at that time, and, these guys conveyed the fun side of folk, the international aspect of folk, and a respect for the writers and songs that were not to be heard or seen where I was.
It's wonderful to hear so many different artists on Folk Alley. It's also great to sometimes
play the artists who reached listeners outside the folk belt. posted byMichael Tippens on April 15, 2005, 11:49:00 am | I Agree Whatever can be said pro or con about the Kingston Trio, they are definitely a part of many of our lives (& part of our collective musical history)! So too are The Clancy Brothers. Much can be said both for and against their music. But they were there in the 50's & 60's, and never really left, and are a part of our history/heritage.
