ADDINGbroken hearts and beauty
This is one of my favorite patty songs. it certainly is sung from the perspective of someone who has experienced their fair share of heartbreak...so, needless to say, i can identify with it!
one remarkable thing about patty is her "chameleon" voice. on this album, (IMHO) she conjures up images of bonnie raitt ("love throw a line", "standing") dylan ("as cold as it gets")....and then there are the ones that just sound like....patty. that would include "useless desires".
no one renders heartbreak as exquisitely as patty. warning: if you go to see her live, bring a good stash of kleenex.

Totally incredible song one of those that grabs your soul and stays with your heart forever. Patty Griffin is a totally awsome voice of this generation.
