Focus On: Jake Shimabukuro

Folk Alley is obviously excited about the possibilities presented by new media, and Jake Shimabukuro owes much of his current success to the Internet. The young Hawaiian ukulele master was captured on video performing “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on the uke and it took off on YouTube. It helps that Jake is a phenomenal performer who is equally adept playing folk, jazz and pop on his instrument. In his hands, a ukulele is certainly more than a child’s toy brought back by grandma after her trip to Honolulu.

This concert was recorded live in Akron, OH at EJ Thomas Hall’s Stage Door series by contributing producer Craig Adams.
