Iron & Wine is part of a new folk movement - bands that include only one person. Although singer/songwriter Sam Beam has been touring with an ensemble of late, he arrived in Newport solo. His singularity did not disappoint the crowd, which teamed into the Harbor Stage (the only show that weekend to fill the space so effectively). Fans enjoyed Beam's lo-fi introspective songs that have made Iron & Wine one of the hottest acts around since Beam burst onto the scene in 2002, earning space on the blockbuster Garden State soundtrack.
This concert was recorded live at George Wein's Folk Festival 50 in Newport, Rhodes Island, in August 2009 by contributing producer Craig Adams.
