Focus On: Carrie Rodriguez

There’s a very good reason that musicians make the pilgrimage to Austin, Texas every year to perform wherever they can during the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) conference. Austin-native Carrie Rodriguez was backing up a band called Hayseed in a local record store when she was spotted and, before she knew it, the fiddler/singer/songwriter was in a fruitful working collaboration with music veteran Chip Taylor.

After three successful albums and extensive touring across North America and beyond as a duo, Rodriguez is touring with her own trio in support of her recent release, Seven Angels on a Bicycle. After her work with Taylor (who produced the new album), Rodriguez is composing and developing a sound that draws from alt-country, bluegrass, and jazz sounds to compliment her intimate and engaging vocals.

This concert was recorded live at the Kent Stage in Kent, Ohio on June 22, 2007 by contributing producer Craig Adams
