The Belleville Outfit had a gig booked at MerleFest before they actually had a band. Through some kind of cosmic match-up, the musicians that ended up on stage wowed the crowd and made everything right with the world. Marshall Hood, Rob Teter and Jeff Brown first played bluegrass together in a high school band in South Carolina. But life after graduation made other plans for the trio who reconnected in Austin, Texas (a great place to start a new band). To fill out the line-up, Teter recruited Jonathan Konya and Connor Forsyth, whom he met while a student at Loyola University. The final piece of the puzzle was Phoebe Hunt, who had been playing in bands around Austin.
Together, they formed a roots-inspired band with so much talent and enthusiasm that the Belleville Outfit became a near instant success with that first MerleFest audience begging them for CDs that didnt yet exist. Now, with the release of "Time to Stand" this month, they are officially the next generation trad music sensation. This concert was recorded live as part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association's Heritage Series in April 2010 at Happy Days Lodge.
