Focus On: John Gorka

John Gorka began his career as many young musicians do... listening to others play music. While a college student in the late '70s, Gorka started hanging around Godfrey Daniels - a venerable coffeehouse in eastern Pennsylvania that hosted many folk concerts. Inspired by artists such as Stan Rogers, Eric Andersen and Tom Paxton, Gorka put pen to paper and chose the life of a singer/songwriter - taking his show on the road, winning fans and big prizes (including the New Folk Award at Kerrville). As his life has taken him from young student to veteran performer and family man, Gorka is still proud to call himself a folk musician, offering personal music in his rich baritone that touches his audiences and inspires the next generation of songwriters.

would like to request a song do not know where or if this is possible. the song is sung and written by pete seger maybe? heard this long long ago and it still seems to have a word of learning to share if my memory of the lines are right ... desert pete; is the tune (at least that is what my memory thinks it is, and at my age that's one of the things less trusted ...) and it was played and sung by pete seger ... he and odeta were playing a concert in cal...if their is a cd with this tune by pete sure would like to have it ... tx ... folk really is a different country... rnd.mcgoo@yahoo.com
