Review Comments: Not what I thought it would be...kept skipping to the next selection to see if there was something that would "grab" me..it was my husband telling me to take the wack CD off!

Review Comments: Great dance music! We play this in the am to help us out of bed. After a couple lively songs and dances, we are good to go! at least my 6 y/o daughter and I are ready to go.
Modern latin music

Album Rating: (5 of 5 stars)
Review Comments: Most of the music in this album has Cuban based rhythm, done by mostly young musicians. The key here is that this isn't your father's salsa. Represented are the African, Colombian, Cuban, and NY with modern son, salsa, bugaloo, and timba. There are also some hybrid rhythms here like Yerba Buena's cumbia based Burrito and the Los pinguos which sounds like tropical pop with a blend of latin rock/ska and latin pop.
As usual Putumayo has chosen a combination of high caliber groups and up and coming bands as well. The result is extremely balanced, and like it says it is great soundtrack for any latin party.
Perfect from start to finish!

Review Comments: An absolutely irresistable collection of dance salsa! The first two cuts are absolutely spectacular. Everything else is nearly as strong. There is not a throw-away on this CD. I took a Cuban Salsa dance lesson recently, and the instructor played "Mua Mua Mua" 3 or 4 times every lesson for 7 lessons, and the class never tired of it, we just loved the song more each time! The entire CD stands up well to repeated listening. It has a nice variety, with a couple tracks having a reggaeton sound, and a couple cumbias, while sticking closer to true cuban salsa rather that the Americanized club sound. Mostly though the sound is pure and true Salsa. If that is what you are looking for, this is a must have disc!

Review Comments: This is one of my favorite Putumayo cds, although I love them all. It is fun, energetic and makes my 19 month old son show us his moves! A must for music lovers.
