Worth every penny,,,

Album Rating: (5 of 5 stars)

Review Comments: After stumbling across the Shack Shakers a while back, I bought this album as my introduction. About a week later I saw them live.

Holy.

cow.

This band is easily the most electrifying, low-brow live band I've ever seen. That said, I highly recommend this album as I feel it best captures the lightning of their live performances. If you can listen to "Ichabod!" and not want to get off your rear and dance, then this band isn't for you...but if it hooks you, you need to buy this album and enjoy the Rev.Horton Heat meets Tom Waits meets the back alleys of Nashville vibe.

Mature Effort

Album Rating: (4 of 5 stars)

Review Comments: The debut of The Legendary Shack Shakers was one of the most exiting (alternative) country records in years. The Shakers are gifted musicians who are not afraid to transcend the boundaries of country. Although their music has a purist feel to it their first record incorporated rock & ska into their sound. Yet they stayed close enough to country to chase away only the most hardened purist. But they only buy Bill Monroe records anyway, or boring imitations of that.

On their third disc they take this blending of styles a bit further. Country doesn't seem to be their only main inspiration anymore but folk music in general. Again exploding of the album by infusing them with their blend of ska and rock. The latter style elements make this eclectic batch seem consistent. The album is adventurous throughout without ever sounding to thoughtful. The Shakers maintain their impulsive and enthusiastic sound that made their first album so attractive. Not only that, their songwriting is improving. Making this their most mature effort to date.

Mighty Fine Treat from The Shack Shakers

Review Comments: After a long enough wait, Th' Legendary Shack Shakers don't disappoint. From start to finish there isn't a bad track on the album. For fans of the band this is a more than adequate successor to 'Believe'. Worth the wait for sure. Great buy!!

Well worth the wait!

Album Rating: (5 of 5 stars)

Review Comments: This is one of the best albums I have boughten in a while. As Th'Legendary Shack Shackers progress in their anthology they just get more and more insane. This album is much more produced than the last three and has slightly less blues influence but has a very unique sound to it. It's one of those albums that can't be compared to any others. It's most similar to the last album "Believe" but stands on it's own as being unique. No single song on this album sounds the same as the other and all must be experienced. Guest Reverend Horton Heat on tracks 1,2 & 11. Although probably not the best gift for your schizophrenic cousin, "Pandelerium" is best described as the perfect soundtrack to a Hillbilly Insane Asylum.
