Review Comments: I picked this CD up at a concert where Bearfoot performed. Already owning all of their music, this solo disc was for sale (and I knew from the others that Annalisa writes some really good music) so I took a chance and purchased it along with a Biscuit Burners CD.
Prior to this, my Amazon musical interests were in the range of Erin McKeown's "Grand" and Keren Ann's "Not Going Anywhere" but Annalisa quickly soared above these great works. To be honest, some songs on the album really grew on me over time as they repeated. The only thing that might make this disc initially inaccessible for some folks is how ecclectic the songs are from one another. I happen to love this aspect of the album.
I love Annalisa's sound to begin with - from the soft tranquility of "Days of a child" to the funky "Hollywood" this album has an incredible diversity of styles. This CD has been mastered much better than Bearfoot B's "Only Time Knows" and has a tight collaboration of background artists tactfully supporting her amazing vocals/solos. Make sure to check out "Days", "Savior", and "Lay Me Down". I'm greatly anticipating a third offering from this amazingly talented musician. Doesn't she play piano as well?
