Artist Biography:
Since their first meeting in a Spanish youth hostel in 2000, Emily Williams (Wales) and Rebecca Sullivan (USA) have been travelling and singing together almost constantly. What started as a charming busking act has evolved into an in-demand band for venues and festivals all over the UK. In recent years they have entertained at dozens of 25 festivals, including Big Green Gathering, Broadstairs, Glasson, Moor and Coast, Otley, Priddy, Small Nations, Stainsby, Warwick, Wheaton Aston, etc.

These days, Ember is a dazzling young trio of engaging and often humorous storytellers who use a diverse array of roots to create their refreshing blend of song and rhythm. Emily’s and Rebecca’s very distinctive voices form sizzling harmonies accompanied by guitars, fiddle, harmonica, whistle and clarinet. The songs are further propelled by an unusual collection of world percussion instruments expertly played by Job Verweijen (Netherlands). Be prepared to be surprised!

The highlight of this year's Folk Week . . . Two wonderful women . . . an immensely talented singing/songwriting/playing-of-many instruments duo, who together with their new percussionist, Job, totally entranced me, and everyone else who heard them.
