Member sinceApril 06, 2006
Artist Biography:
Scott moved to Colorado in 1990 and was exposed to the ever-expanding bluegrass genre. The music spurred his interest and prompted him to take up the banjo, mandolin, resophonic guitar, octave mandolin, and Hawaiian (Weissenborn) guitar. He spent 14 years developing his multi-instrumental talents and has shared the stage with Sam Bush, David Essig, Doug Cox, Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen, Peter Rowan, Pete Wernick, Victor Wooten, String Cheese Incident, Mark Perry, Jenny Lester and other folk and bluegrass musicians while touring with his band “Raised on Rhubarb”.
Atchison moved to Smithers, BC in the winter of 1998 to discover a town steeped in musical talent. He quickly joined forces with Jenny Lester and Mark Thibeault of “Hungry Hill”. Recently invited to record with Mark Perry at Old Crow Studios in Whitehorse on his “soon to be released” CD, he will be performing with Mark around BC this Fall for the CD tour. Scott will also be one of the local instructors teaching at the Bulkley Valley Guitar Camp in Smithers, BC this August. He continues to write, perform, and record unique non-traditional & traditional bluegrass songs solo & with his band “Raised on Rhubarb”, which has just released it’s new CD “Songs from the Hopper”.
