Artist Biography:
Nicole LePera is addicted to sound, whether it be a string orchestra, industrial noise or wind rushing through the trees. Her love of nature is evident in her music, much of which is created out in the world with her Backpacker guitar. Her voice has been described as angelic and pure at times, sultry and sensuous in others and sometimes downright creepy and terrifying. Much of her music is straight improvisation, although it does seem to come out of deep personal experience. Her music ranges from rich waves of multi-layered voice to banshee-like singing to the bawdy drinking wench songs of old. Strong musical influences in her life range from Stockhausen to Loreena McKennitt to Arvo Part to Yoko Ono to Bulgarian folk singing to Ani DiFranco to System of a Down to Naythen Wilson, to name a few. She resides in Maine near her favorite beach and source of inspiration.
