Focus On: Darrell Scott

Darrell Scott is one of Nashville's virtuoso musicians - playing and writing for a long list of A-listers. Like most songwriters, the urge to tell his own stories pushed him to the front of the stage. Fortunately for all of us, front and center suits Scott well. His powerful Americana and country chops combine with songwriting skills (that produced "Long Time Gone" - a monster hit for the Dixie Chicks) to create a performance alchemy that causes audiences to race to the lobby at intermission to build their CD catalogs. Hear Scott launch the 42nd Kent State Folk Festival in fine style as the opening artist for the two-week fest.

This concert was recorded live at the Kent Stage in Kent, Ohio on the opening night of the 42nd Kent State Folk Festival in November 2008 by contributing producer Jimmie Wilson.

I got to see and hear Darrell live at the Ark a couple of months ago. I was TERRIFIC. I think he is at his best when its just him and his instruments. An amazing musician.

I just saw Darrell Scott at the Americana Music Festival. He and Mary Gauthier gave a listening lounge performance and for his first song he had the audience close their eyes as he weaved amongst us while playing...He is such a gifted and sensitive writer/performer.

They say you have to live the blues to sing them. Perhaps Folk music is that way too. I can here and feel the life of a Folk Singer in his voice, and his heart in his songs.
