Fresh cuts... Please stop playing Billy Strings... Getting tired of him... It's not enjoyable any more... He is talented but dang it sounds like a 33 rpm record played on 45 rpm.. Also stop over playing blue Highway along with some kinda Home Made Wine song.. They are becoming annoying

What's the name of the Iron and Wine song getting heavy play? It's been haunting me since late last night!

Posted by Steve Shelton on February 10, 2018.
I heard a song called "Red Crayons" by Bill McIver on OpenMic, about the topic of guns in America. I think its a thoughtful & topical song and think others would enjoy it.

Posted by Wilt Mathis on September 15, 2017.
Never mind... I had the name wrong. What I was looking for was "The Lost Sky" by Jesca Hoop. Such a haunting melody! Can't get it out of my head (and don't want to).

In Fresh Cuts you've been playing a song called "Dark Star". I can't find it in any of your playlists for more information.

Darden Smith's "Against the Grain" is an excellent song. Just what I needed to hear at this point in life. We all need to hear it.

I thought a $35.00 donation gave me commercial free stream. I donated $60.00. My member# is 1468610. I don't know how to hear that commercial free stream. I am copying the 128Kb stream address into WinAmp. I am missing something on your website? Thanks for your your consideration.

The Bombadils performed live at the Elmira Theatre Company in Elmira, ON on Sept 8, 2016. I was listening to Folk Alley at home on the weekend and heard their song "Heave Away" playing. Nice to hear some Canadian artists played on Folk Alley - you do a great job!

Enjoy the Irish Music stream, but sadly, can't access your Fresh Cuts stream! Any suggestions, please? Bill

Heard a little more nashville sounding new country today on fresh cuts. I can hear that on almost every off air station in these hills of western north carolina. I have also seen Jonathan Byrd here locally and heard on Folk Alley. Now he's my kind of new young folk.

Posted by John Pittman on September 21, 2015.
Was introduced to Jonathan Byrd by Folk Alley last year, became a fan, and recently saw him in concert in Charlotte, N.C. Thanks Folk Alley.

Have I noticed correctly that there are a couple new songs in fresh cuts that are more old time country then anything else?

Posted by George Newth on August 30, 2015.
cannot listen via iTunes- new releases- help please

Posted by Larry Harris on August 06, 2015.
Appreciate your playing new music from Mandolin Orange and Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellies. Both are awesomely talented young bands...well written songs, cool harmonies, creative and skilled instrumentation. Really fresh! Thanks for recognizing them. For listeners, if you ever have the opportunity to see these groups live, don't miss it...they're alot of fun to experience.

I Listen after work every day, And pretty much the whole weekend sun-up to sun-down...there is not much on here that I would ever mute it...Love it or hate it its Folk and my Life blood. Keep up the good work and Thanks again

Every site I go to, and every avenue I've tried to listen to Folk Alley through this morning just keeps playing the "You are listening to" intro on loop. I'm signed in to my account and not doing anything different than yesterday, so i'm not sure if it's a technical issue or personal user error. Thank You

Hi Jan -- we found the chipmunks in one of the streams and sent them on their way. Sorry the trouble and thanks for listening!

Posted by Folk Alley on October 05, 2014.
I listen every day to fresh cuts. This morning when I turned on fresh cuts it sounded like Alvin and the chipmunks singing. Turned off and on throughout the day and no change. I wonder if anyone else is having problems?

Posted by Jan McMahon on October 04, 2014.
The Woo Woo song is horrible. Please take it out of rotation!

Posted by Steve on September 12, 2014.
Love this collection (Fresh Cuts)! Love the station! Can't wait to retire so that I can listen to Folk Alley a LOT more! Thanks so much for the wonderful music.

I'm 65 and enjoy the change of music that you offer. With being a little hard of hearing, I can understand the lyrics. I like R&B as well. But you have become my favorite when I'm on the computer at home.

Trying to play the 128 mp3 stream on iPad 3. It keeps stopping and crashed my iPad twice in Chrome. Nothing ever crashed my iPad before. What are you doing?

Posted by Fooby on October 04, 2013.
Thanks Marilyn & John for recommending Mandolin Orange!! I do have an advance copy in my pile, and I'll be sure to listen to it soon!

Posted by Linda Fahey on July 12, 2013.
I'll second Marilyn's recommendation...can't wait for the new Mandolin Orange CD! This pair combines so many great elements...creative and thoughtful lyrics, interesting melodies, great playing and harmonies. My wife and I love to see them live whenever they are in NC.

Posted by John on July 12, 2013.
Hope you will get Mandolin Orange's new record " This Side of Jordan" which comes out August 20th or so. They are a refreshing young twosome who play a mix of Americana--not sure how to describe it--but they are fine musicians. Wonderful vocal and instrumental harmonies combined with well-executed fiddle, mandolin and guitar. Andrew Marlin writes the songs and Emily Frantz collaborates on the arrangement to produce some of the most beautiful and expressive work I've heard.

Just loved hearing Carrie Newcomer's new 'Speed of Soul.' Fun also to have identified her voice, and recalled her name as I was washing dishes. I'd seen her just once, at 'Uncle Calvin's,' back in Dallas, about 1995. She, I and two or three others went out for pizza after her show. Told her I'd found her songs 'spiritual,' which she appreciated. Shouldn't be surprised to have heard that very term just now on Fresh Cuts describing her music. Guess that makes it a fact, hey? Glad she's still offering her special persona to the world! Thanks for mentioning 'Kindred Spirits,' her new album. I'd never know existed, save Folk Alley! A must have!

I believe a serious omission to your fresh cuts stream are songs from Ben Bedford's new CD "What We Lost" This CD is number 5 on the Folk DJ chart and number 6 in Europe- Americana. His previous CD's are awesome as well, "Land Of the Shadows" and "Lincoln's Man". Maybe some live recordings would be a service to your listeners.

Hoping to hear tunes from our good friend Ben Bedford's new CD "What We Lost". It is awesome!!!

Posted by Vera Mount on October 15, 2012.
Thanks for playing songs from John Fulbright's new CD From the Ground Up. It is a great recording. John, once known mostly by the Woodyfest crowd in Okemah, OK, is no longer a secret. Enjoy!

Thanks for playing tracks from Antje Duvekot's new album. It's a great recording!

I strongly recommend Nanci Griffith's new album. Intersection. It is a masterpiece which has received rave reviews. It went to the top of the charts in England and was just released in the USA.

I hit the mute button when you play Ry Cooder's "Jesse James". Like chalk on a blackboard.

There is a couple in our area of NC, Mandolin Orange, who are making some amazing music. They’ve recently released a new CD that is impressive. Wonderful melodies, lyrics and instrumentation. Songs are clever, harmonies sweet. They are a maturing, enormously talented couple...would be a good fit for a Folk Alley playlist or feature. Thanks for your work and best holiday wishes.

Dennis: I find I have to refresh the screen to see what's playing (your problem No. 2). You might want to try that -- this isn't Pandora... wink wink.

Posted by Old Folkie on October 13, 2011.
My songs are available on the web now . They can be found on CD Baby by searching Sadie Lorna.

Posted by Sadie Lorna on October 10, 2011.
Ha, uhm, I wrote "Semicolon" but meant colon :-)

Posted by Fin on October 04, 2011.
@dennis, those are minutes after the semicolon, not seconds. The site is updating for me, not sure what you are talking about.

Posted by Fin on October 04, 2011.
Your site problem 1: the "Now Playing" list shows only the seconds, all minutes are blank. Your site problem 2: As your streaming cuts proceed, your "Now Playing" site stubborningly remains unchanged and absolutely wrong! My problem (#3): I can find no way to enable SqueezeBox Radio and Touch to find your site. If you can successfully tell me how to connect I will subscribe to your site until I die. Thank you, Dennis Deloria

I hate that anyone who is bored with today's music can't or won't take the time to give Folk Alley frest cuts a chance or any NPR sponsered program.

Ollabelle - Neon Blue Bird, love it, good new stuff.

Posted by Kendall Spears on August 31, 2011.
A couple of weeks ago, a bit of serendipity occurred. I listened to a recorded NPR broadcast from 2006 about a typewriter repairman, Paul Schweitzer in NYC while searching for a part for my grandfather's typewriter and in going to the NPR site, I found all the music you offer. I first checked out Mountain Stage and the great bluegrass it features. The other day I clicked on All Songs Considered, and then today I found Folk Alley. It's all great music and gives me faith in the music being composed and played today -- I thought it was all noise, but NPR gives me hope. Doug

Give a listen to THE AMAZING DR. ZARCON'S BREATHING MACHINE JUG BAND. They will be featured at the 20th Annual Blue Heron festival in 2011.

We were blown away by Keith Secola at The Blue Heron festival last July. His music is enlightening and needs to be appreciated by more. Please help spread the word.

I heard a song on Thanksgiving about Good people everywhere, all the things they do for each other. Cannot find the Artist, nor actual title for song. Can you let me know? It was a man singing. Thank you! Really liked it. (NOT Joe Jackson)
