Blissfest 2012

Blissfest Music Organization initially started as annual traditional music festival in 1981 by a group of folk arts and American roots music and dance enthusiasts. Early on the event was held near the small town of Bliss, MI and given the name Blissfest. The event has continued annually since that time and eventually developed into the Blissfest Music Organization. The festival moved to its permanent location near Cross Village, MI in Readmond Township, Emmet Co.in 1988 and continues to be held annually. The festival farm facility was purchased by the organization in 1995 and expanded to 120 acres in 1998.

Blissfest Music Organization presents its annual weekend traditional and roots music festival during the second weekend of July at the Festival Farm. The Blissfest Festival event is the primary program service for the organization and also helps support the organization’s other folks arts programming throughout the year. The organization has produced its annual festival for 24 years and serves approximately 4,500-5,000 people each day during the three day festival. The annual festival is a unique and nationally recognized cultural heritage enrichment event for northern Michigan and supports cultural tourism in the area. The event features a weekend arts camp, performances, craft workshops and vending, educational workshops, and many informal musical gatherings and draws participants from across te state and Midwest.
