I'd never heard of Marcia Ball (shame on me) but, by sheer luck, I picked up her Peace, Love and BBQ last year in Waterloo Music in Austin. It is one of the most amazing CDs I've heard in years. Party Town, Watermelon Time, Married Life, and Right Back In It are pure, unadulterated fun. Falling Back in Love With You is the sexiest piece of music I've heard since Dusty Springfield sang Son of a Preacher Man. There are moments on Ride It Out that could make you cry, and moments on Miracle in Knoxville that summon the ghost of Robert Johnson. There isn't a single dud on this album. Just wonderful.
Really pleased you've added Sarah Jarosz to the playlist.
I first saw her at Telluride a few years back doing a Tweener, next year she was opening with Mike Marshal (yes with Mike marshal not the other way round) then appearing a couple years later with the Duhks and Uncle Earl G'Earls.
She has an ear for a great song and musical skill I can only dream of.
Hope she gets a fair share of plays on FolkAlley
Go gently
Pete
