Folk Alley is accepting applications for a Multimedia (Web) Developer position!

Multimedia Developer (Web Developer) for FolkAlley.com

Company: FolkAlley.com (WKSU 89.7 FM)/Kent State University

Location: Kent, Ohio

Opportunity for a creative and highly skilled Web Developer to provide web programming in a LAMP environment, developing scalable, secure web applications in PHP and MySQL.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field; two to three years web development and programming experience.

Required Skills:


  • Web programming in a LAMP environment with specific experience developing scalable, secure web applications in PHP and MySQL

  • Functional understanding of XHTML and CSS including web standards

  • JavaScript and DOM

  • Relational database concepts

  • Have a strong understanding of the latest web development "best practices," including website accessibility, cross-browser & cross-platform compatibility, and search engine optimization

  • Basic familiarity with Photoshop, GIMP, or equivalent

  • Ability to successfully communicate technology issues

  • Proven ability to successfully prioritize and manage time in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills:


  • Flash, audio/video encoding, and streaming media

  • Web 2.0 concepts including Ajax, social networking, blogs, wikis, tagging, RSS, and web services

  • Exposure to common PHP and/or javascript frameworks, templating engines, and/or content management systems
