Folk Alley's New Online Concert Series Debuts!

September 14, 2005

Hosted by our very own Jim Blum, Live from Folk Alley presents Red House Records recording artist Eliza Gilkyson on Tuesday, September 20th at 9:00pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time. For our kick off show - of what will become a regular online LIVE concert series - we’ll be webcasting from Cleveland’s home for folk and roots music the Beachland Ballroom.

On the heels of her 2004 standout release, the Grammy-nominated Land of Milk & Honey, Eliza is presently touring in support of her follow-up release, Paradise Hotel. Eliza Gilkyson is a rare artist who finds the universality of the human condition and wraps it in mature insight that can only come from a lifetime of experience, poetry and melody like few do.

Set your alarm for next Tuesday and join us! (Don't forget to do the math for your time zone.) Listen LIVE on-demand right here on Folk Alley, and let us know what you think!

What an awesome idea. I am SO PROUD of where Folk Alley has come over the past two years.

I'll be there Tuesday night, front row center.

Saw a Folk Alley sticker on a guitar case in the Nashville airport, but couldn't snag the guy. Y'all have arrived!

Um, will there be an archived version placed on the site?

Posted by: Scot Witt at September 15, 2005 10:17 AM

Yes Scot, eventually there will be an archived version of the concert, though it won't be available immediately.

Kewl! Thanks Linda.

Hey, this is going to be a great new feature. I'm looking forward to the future concerts as well. Any idea on the upcoming artists?

I just have to say -- THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW! Eliza is at the top of her game. The show was with a trio: Eliza, her son Cisco, and Mike Hardwick on guitars. What a rich sound! We hope to have the concert available to you to listen on-demand in a week or two. Personally, I can't wait to hear it again!

Don't know if this is the right place to post this or not, but I saw Kasey Chambers at the Beachland in the middle of August and Jim Blum introduced her and said the show was to be recorded for the Folkalley site as part of a new concert series (the first time I heard of this site and I'm glad I did!). Does anyone know of the status of whether the show will be on this site or not? It was fantastic and I'm excited to hear it again. Thanks.

I was at the Eliza show and it was fantastic. What a great way to start the online concert series.

Roland, we're talking about 3-4 different shows at the moment, but we haven't confirmed them quite yet. Once we do, we'll annouce them on the website. fyi -- we're looking at mid-November for the next one.

Bryan, I'm checking on the status of the Kasey Chambers concert. I'll try to find out when it will be ready to offer. That particular show isn't part of this series, but it will be a great concert to offer for on-demand listening.

My chances to listen to a show live are almost zero, but , I would love to have them available on demand.
We were fortunate to attend an Eliza Gilkyson concert, last Friday, in Lincoln, NE.
She performed solo, but the experience was super.
We had heard her CDs, but did not expect her to be such an overall entertainer.

I listened to the Eliza Gilkyson show once but can't seem to find it anywhere on site. I sent the html off to some friends who had never heard of Folk Alley and I'm sure they're members now!

Is there a trick I am missing?

I just tuned in last weekend and fellin love with the Eliza concert. I played this a doxen times. Now its gone. I am lost. You had listed her cd sales. Are they still aviable? I decided today which ones to buy.
Can I find the concert again?

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed last night's concert with David Francey and John Gorka - 2 of my all-time favourites on the same bill. After a very busy week, the concert was a perfect way to spend my Friday evening.

Thank you so much !
