Folk Alley Coordinator Job Posted

November 8, 2004

When we conducted our recent fund drive, one of the things we really wanted to accomplish was the addition of a full-time coordinator to our staff. This person would be completely dedicated to Folk Alley (at least during working hours). Well, the job has been posted on the Kent State University web site. To view the full job description or apply online, click here, click SEARCH POSTINGS in the top of the lefthand column and then scroll Department for WKSU Radio (it's in frames). The University-friendly title for the job is Manager, Internet Radio Service.

This is how the basic job requirements are written:
Manage the development, implementation, and coordination of Folk Alley, including programming, marketing, public relations, production, integration, and automation.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in broadcasting, marketing or other applicable field and 2 to 3 years broadcast production experience to include 2 years project management experience that has provided a strong understanding of online media and Internet marketing strategies and tactics. Must have in-depth knowledge of folk music, demonstrated skill in digital radio production, and understanding of web usability issues.

Search will continue until the position is filled. When applying on line, please submit a cover letter, resume and contact information for three professional references.

WOW, do you want the Pope? What an incredible over kill for qualifications. Is this site becoming Corporate or something?

If you didn't want the college degree, I would be there in a heartbeat. It's a shame when degree exceeds knowledge in the corporate mind.

Gary, Don DiVito, don't worry we got exactly the same problem here in France.

To all of you interested in the posted internet manager position, STOP whinning about the job qualifications and START applying today. Of course they want a university degree because its a university based radio station. KSU stands for Kent State University. The second largest state university in Ohio second only to Ohio State University home of the Buckeyes. If it was not affiliated with the university The radio station would never be what it is today. Radio stations playing folk music are far and few between. As all of the world wide internet listeners can testify to. So get out and get that degree. But if you think you are so good you can best up degreed applicants then go ahead and apply anyway. KSU is not asking for the pope, they want more, they want an internet GOD. Don't blame them for asking for what you think are impossible qualifications. They want the best internet manager they can find. The site already is by far one of the best around. It offers more, in a more creative way then any I can recall. So even if you don't have the "degree" but you think you are at least this good and or better then I am sure KSU would be interested in seeing what you can do. As a listner and reader of this site I sure don't care if you have a degree in forestry, or no degree at all. As long as the new manager can keep this pace up I would be happy, and if you can do better I would be thrilled.
